Mission:The Buchanan
County Victim/Witness Unit is dedicated to the fair treatment of crime victims
and witnesses within the criminal justice system. It is the duty of this office
to act as representatives for all citizens to ensure the free exercise of their
constitutionally guaranteed victim's rights.
Summary
of Services:
The Buchanan County Prosecuting
Attorney's Office in 1978 was the first to establish a Prosecutor based Victim/Witness
unit in the State of Missouri. A comprehensive program of services provided by
three full-time staff and supported by the entire office staff, including: attorneys,
paralegals and clerical. Services are provided primarily to victims and witnesses
of crimes committed in Buchanan County.
